What exactly is “assisted living”?
At Wynnfield Crossing, we define assisted living according to the needs and circumstances of each individual resident. As a comprehensive and flexible assisted living facility, we provide comfortable, affordable, senior-friendly housing along with a long list of standard services that range from meals and light housekeeping to laundry and personal errands. For those residents in need of more support, we offer optional customized services such as additional meals, medication reminders, medication assistance, and help with bathing, dressing, grooming, and other personal needs. All residents have 24-hour-a-day access to our staff, and every unit is equipped with a Personal Emergency Response System (PERS). By offering exactly the right mix of services, we make it possible for seniors to experience both independence and security. More detailed information about assisted living is available at www.IALFA.org, the official web site of the Indiana Assisted Living Federation of America.

What’s the difference between assisted-living apartments and independent-living units?
There is no difference. Because we believe that all seniors should have the opportunity to “age in place,” Wynnfield Crossing residents are free to choose from a wide range of spacious floor plans that include studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments. When and if their situation changes, and they find themselves requiring more assistance on a daily basis, they can remain where they are. We will simply bring the necessary services to them.

Do you offer care for those with memory loss disorders?
Alzheimer’s and dementia require intensive, highly specialized care as well as an environment specially designed to promote the safety and comfort of residents. Our administrators can recommend a number of certified care facilities that offer services specifically for those suffering from memory loss disorders.

What is short-term respite care?
Wynnfield Crossing offers temporary housing and support services for seniors who need assistance in order to maintain their independence. These services can be an excellent short-term option for family caregivers.

Do you offer short-term respite services for business travelers, vacationers and others who are caring for family members?
Yes. Following an initial assessment, and minimal paperwork, we can arrange for respite care. The visitor's stay can be as short as a weekend or as long as two months. And as part of our community, they'll be encouraged to participate in our many activities and social events.

What are the leasing terms at Wynnfield Crossing?
Unlike most retirement communities, we do not require large entrance fees or so-called “Life Use” deposits. Residents simply pay a monthly fee—as they would in any apartment community. This basic fee covers a long list of services and amenities, including two daily restaurant-style meals, bi-weekly housekeeping, linen and towel laundry service, all utilities (except telephone), and basic cable television service.

Are residents allowed to bring their own furnishings?
Definitely. We encourage seniors to make their apartments as home-like as possible. In addition, our administrators will be happy to help locate and schedule furniture-moving services.

What about pets?
Small pets—dogs, cats and birds—are welcomed at Wynnfield Crossing. For details on the pet policy, contact our executive director at (572) 224-2400.

What is your visitor policy?
We love visitors and welcome them at any time. In fact, friends and family members are encouraged to visit as often as possible. And because of our many outstanding facilities—among them meeting rooms, a banquet room, and large activity areas—Wynnfield Crossing has become a lively center of community life and the local venue of choice for everything from weddings and birthday celebrations to meetings and seminars.

Can my out-of-town visitors stay at Wynnfield Crossing?
Absolutely. In fact, we're always delighted to accommodate the family and friends of residents. Our guest rooms are extremely comfortable and very affordable. Because breakfast is included in the cost, staying at Wynnfield Crossing is a lot like vacationing at a B&B.
